Night Flight To Norman

There is nothing like a nice night flight after a long day of work. Today after work I decided it was time for a flight down to Norman to have dinner with my parents. I called up Glyn, a coworker and good friend, and asked if he wanted to go along. I quickly found a rental that would allow the three of us to fit with enough fuel to make the trip. It worked out perfect and N42RL had 36 gallons of fuel in it. It was exactly the plane we needed. I reserved it and got everything ready to go. This was one of the first times in my time flying that I had to manage weight when doing the weight and balance. There wasn't anything tricky about it, just had to make sure everything would work. We loaded up and were on our way! It was the calmest of night flights and I snapped the attached image as we started leveling off for 4,500' on our way to Norman for dinner. What a great way to spend a Sunday evening!
