The benefits of general aviation never cease to amaze me. On a Monday afternoon I set out to Houston, TX to take my friend to see family. With headwinds and a stop in Longview for fuel and dinner we touched down at La Porte Munical Airport just a little over four hours after deparing Tulsa, OK. An overnight stay and the next afternoon we departed La Porte at 1500L and made the short hop over to Baytown Airport to take advantage of cheaper fuel prices. Ten minutes on the ground there and we were on our way up to 8,500 to take advantage of strong tailwinds for the non-stop ride home. We would be racing a line of thunderstorms developing in the Tulsa area. It was a great experience to get to set out on the longest cross country I have flown to date. It was a great way to pass the 200TT mark and to finish and begin a new page in the logbook.
